Epilepsy Queensland (EQI) was founded in 1969 and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of all Queensladners whose lives are affected by epilepsy. With approximately 86,000 Queenslanders being diagnosed with epilepsy during their lifetime, the demand for our services is increasing every year. A diagnosis of epilepsy all too often leaves people feeling frightened and worried about what lies ahead. EQI helps people to cope with the feelings of fear, uncertainty, isolation and the consequences of epilepsy. Considerable effort is directed to inceasing public awareness and raising community understanding of epilepsy and seizure first aid. EQI provides a statewide service for people with epilepsy, their carers, relatives, teachers and employers. Services include: Information, counselling and support services; Community awareness and education activities; Groups, workshops and seminars; Inservice training for health, disability and education workers; Children and family support programs. You may never see their faces but you will have touched their lives. Please help Epilepsy Queensland to bring epilepsy out of the shadows.
